"From 1995 onwards all cars & vans sold in the UK were legally required to be factory fitted with an immobiliser most manufacturers achieve this by fitting a transponder chip in the head of the car key."

The chip has a code on it which is read by the cars ECU (electronic control unit) when the key is put in the ignition lock if the correct code is found the car will start.

The first transponder keys had chips with a fixed code and were used from 1995 to about 1997 these keys  can be copied using a cloning machine and do not need to be programmed into the vehicle.

From around 1997 crypto chips were used each time the key is used the code on the chip changes Keys 2 Cars have the most up to date transponder cloning equipment and we can clone a large number of these keys. If Keys 2 Cars cannot clone your key we will use our state of the art diagnostics equipment to program the new key into your vehicle.
